Mustafa-paša Kara Šahin
Of Bosniak descent, Kara Shahin Mustafa Pasha rose through the imperial military corps. Appointed governor (Beylerbey) of Gaza, and subsequently governor of Egypt and Yemen under Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. His sons Ridwan Pasha and Bahram Pasha established hereditary administrative control over the Sanjaks of Gaza, Nablus, and Damascus, ushering in an era of agricultural prosperity and architectural patronage in the Levant.
