Danis Tanović
Born in Zenica, raised in Sarajevo. During the siege of Sarajevo, he filmed frontline footage for the Bosnian army film archive. Later studied film in Brussels.
His debut feature film *No Man’s Land* (2001) won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the Golden Globe, and Best Screenplay at Cannes Film Festival. He subsequently won two Silver Bears at the Berlin International Film Festival for *An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker* and *Death in Sarajevo*.
