Born in Stolac, Herzegovina. Dizdar drew deep inspiration from the medieval Bosnian Church, Bogomil epigraphy, and stone inscriptions found on Stećci necropolises throughout Bosnia. His 1966 collection *Kameni spavač* represents the pinnacle of South Slavic 20th-century lyrical philosophy, translating existential perseverance, Bosnian identity, and spiritual eternity.
