The executive branch of the national government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, responsible for carrying out state-level laws and policies.

Powers

  • Preparing and implementing laws adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly.
  • Carrying out state-level administrative and regulatory functions.
  • Proposing legislation to the Parliamentary Assembly.
  • Coordinating policies between state institutions and entity authorities.

How members are chosen

The Chairman is nominated by the Presidency and approved by the House of Representatives. Other ministers are nominated by the Chairman and approved by the House of Representatives.

Veto and blocking mechanics
Decisions must be made by consensus or, if by majority, must include at least one vote from each of the three constituent ethnic groups.
